Husain Shah Sharqi

Husain Shah Sharqi
(?-1505)
He was the last king of the Sharqi dynasty and came to the throne after the demise of Muham-mad Shah Sharqi in 1458. Husain Shah got increasingly involved in the struggle among the successors of the Saiyid dynasty for the con-trol of the Gangetic Doab and its periphery. This brought Husain Shah into a conflict with Bahlul Lodi, who defeated him decisively in 1476. Subsequently, Husain Shah was deprived of all his posses-sions but allowed to linger on for some time at Jaunpur. He finally fled to Bihar and died there as a fugitive in 1505.
